A Family Business of Art Restorers

The Picture Conservation and Restoration Studios were created by Garve Hessenberg and Alison Hessenberg in 1981 in Buckingham after Garve saw art conservation in practice. Realising Art Conservation brought his skills as an Oil Painter and his knowledge of fine art history and practise, the business grew and expanded across the South East of England.

Garve trained as an artist at St Martin’s College during the peak of sixties London and became a skilled oil painter in his own right, painting portraits and landscapes.

As the business grew customers included Clarence House, Oxford University, St James Palace and The Royal Military Police.

In 1998, The Picture Restoration Studios moved it’s main studios to the picturesque market town of Arundel, West Sussex.

In 2009, their daughter Camilla, having been brought up surrounded by Oil Paintings, Watercolours and the smell of varnish, started to train under Garve’s supervision and is now a skilled and highly experienced Art Restorer and Conservator.

The Picture Restoration Studios now collects art work throughout the South of England and London and is available to assess your Work of Art.
